What are you willing to do to educate all children?

I want to set many examples for my students. Growing up, I was fortunate enough to have incredible teachers who set many impactful examples in my life that I still carry with me till this day and apply to my daily life. I think when it comes to teaching, it's important that we are not only showing students the lessons that they are "required" to learn about certain subjects, but also lessons that will benefit them for their future and guide them in a good direction. I want to build a connection with all of my students and allow them to feel comfortable in my classroom. I want them to see school as a place that is exciting and a safe space instead of seeing it as somewhere they are being forced to go to. I want to make sure when I am teaching them different types of lessons, that I am teaching them in a unique way that will help the information stay with them and will be lessons that they genuinely are curious about learning. Diversity is something huge we all see in every school rather it be the children's backgrounds, learning abilities, languages, etc. I would love to show my students the beauty in being surrounded by a diverse atmosphere and all the different thing they can carry with them from these experiences. Showing students that there is so much more to being inside of a classroom and learning is very important to me because it is what is able to build up a base of their motivation to want to continue learning. If I am able to provide them with these lessons and see that I was able to make an impact on them, then I know I did something right.

  1. Hi Diaynara! I have not come across a post starting off with what you had; setting an example, I love that. As educators it is our job not only to teach our students, but to role model for them. If they see us as their equal and role model, then their success in the classroom will easily follow! Putting topics and lessons into a different perspective is always a great idea in order to get students interested in learning. I like how you said that it is important to shsow students that the lessons that you teach are only required, but instead remind them of how these lessons are going to change their lives and help their future career paths. If we only focus on the technicals, there is no room for fun! It is definitely beautiful too when surrounded by a classroom full of diversity; there was no better word to describe it than what word you used. It is simply beautiful! I personally love having a diverse environment around me because each individual can contribute to society in their own way to make the world a better place; especially when it comes to our future students. I love your post, great job!

    1. Hi Hannah, thank you so much! I appreciate your response. I could not agree with you more. Having our students being surrounded in a diverse environment and even us being surrounded by it helps so much. We can learn so many different things and about different lifestyles. Applying everything we’ve learnt to our life really opens up so many doors for everybody and shows our students how great it is to be open minded.
